Itinerary

Day 1 (Sun) Join the coach at one of our convenient local departure points and travel to Central London. Our first stop is BBC BROADCASTING HOUSE, iconic home of the BBC and the setting for many memorable shows and events. We take a guided tour of this unique building which, when it opened in 1932, was the UK’s first ever purpose-built broadcasting centre. Follow in the footsteps of the famous as you walk the historic corridors, see the Council Chamber where all the important decisions are made and some of the studios that host your favourite Radio 3 and Radio 4 programmes. From Portland Place we drive to the HILTON WALDORF HOTEL in the Aldwych. One of London’s most famous 5-star hotels, the Waldorf is an iconic landmark in a superb location where the West End meets the City of London. It boasts a wonderful Edwardian Palm Court, where many of the rich and famous attended tea dances over the years. After time to settle in to your elegant bedroom and, perhaps, enjoy a dip in the indoor pool, we shall head to YE OLDE COCK TAVERN. This traditional London pub first opened its doors in 1549. It has been on its current site in Fleet Street since 1887 and was once the watering hole of historic literary figures such as Samuel Pepys, Charles Dickens and Dr Johnson. We will be served a three-course meal (with menu choice) before returning to the comfortable surroundings of the Waldorf for a tranquil night’s sleep.

Day 2 (Mon) As Christmas is only a month away it would seem like a good time for some CHRISTMAS SHOPPING, so after a delicious Waldorf breakfast our coach will take you into the heart of the West End. Oxford Street and the other main thoroughfares will be decorated for the festive season and shops will be stocked with all kinds of Christmas goodies. If you prefer to have a quieter day you can stay on the coach to see the sights and visit THE MUSEUM OF LONDON. The Museum has fascinating displays that take you on a journey through the capital’s turbulent past from prehistoric times to the present day. We leave London mid-afternoon and return to Sussex.
