A weekend break that will enable you to master some traditional skills whilst learning about the varied techniques used to create some pieces to take home with you. All materials and tools are provided and no previous experience is required. The workshops will be led by experienced and qualified instructors. Morning and afternoon tea or coffee are included on 23rd October. You will also visit elegant Marlborough and The Vyne, a National Trust Tudor mansion set in 13 acres of beautiful gardens.
Day 2 - Friday
A taxi will bring you to the coach to join your driver and fellow 'crafters'. We will drive through Hampshire and Wiltshire to the elegant Georgian town of Marlborough. You will discover quaint tearooms and old coaching inns, and there will be time to explore and find lunch. This afternoon a short journey brings us to our comfortable hotel where there will be time to relax before dinner.
DDay 2 - Saturday
After breakfast head to one of the Hotel's function rooms for the first of today's crafting sessions. Découpage is an eye-catching technique made simple. In this workshop you will learn how to découpage a keepsake box frame which can be made from your own photographs or from materials supplied. A huge variety of materials will be available to inspire your creative mind and find a style to suit you; beads, gems, trinkets, felt, fabric and printed papers can all be added to your frame to make it especially personal. The keepsake box is an ideal place to store all your precious memories or to make for a friend. Although not included, lunch will be available in the Hotel. This afternoon's workshop will introduce you to Hand Patchwork and Quilting Techniques. Try out some of the tools of the trade including quilting needles, quilters' pins, patterns and transfer pencils, hoops and batting. You will be able to make a sampler of hexagon patchwork or a panel of quilting patterns. Then use your new found skills and start your own projects! Later, you can discuss the day's activities and achievements over dinner.
B, DDay 3 - Sunday
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and read the Sunday papers before we make our way to The Vyne. This National Trust estate in Hampshire is set in a scenic landscape with a 17th century house, gardens and woodlands. Historic gems include a pre-Reformation chapel, Tudor oak gallery and walled garden. After exploring the property, visit the cosy Brewhouse tea room and gift shop before we leave for home and meet the waiting taxis.
