A Day in the Thames Valley

A Day in the Thames Valley

A day exploring the Thames Valley, including Marlow and Henley

We join the River Thames at Runnymede then continue through Datchet, passing Eton College eith its famous playing fields. Then on past Maidenhead and Cookham to our first stop in Marlow. It is one of the loveliest locations on the Thames, with a lively town centre made up of historic streets full of pubs and litttle cafes. The graceful suspension bridge was built in 1932 and joins Buckinghamshire with Berkshire. After time to explore and find lunch, we skirt the Chilterns to reach Henley-on-Thames. Spend a couple of hours or so exploring this fascinating and historic town. There are riverside gardens, a pub where King Charles I drank, independent shops and galleries and cosy tea rooms.
