Day 1 - Thursday
En route to our Hotel in Derbyshire we will make lunchtime stop at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. The Arboretum was created to honour the fallen, recognise service and sacrifice, and foster pride in the British Armed Forces, and makes a fascinating visit.D
Day 2 - Friday
We enjoy a narrowboat cruise through the picturesque Derwent Valley, followed by a visit to the Cromford Mills World Heritage Site, birthplace of the modern factory system. In the afternoon we travel back in time at the Crich Tramway Museum, rattling down the traditional village street on a vintage tram.B, D
Day 3 - Saturday
Accompanied by a Blue Badge Guide, we explore the beautiful Peak District National Park. We will hear about the traditional Derbyshire art of Well Dressing, visit Ashbourne and Castleton, the 'Plague Village' of Eyam, and the Church of St.John the Baptist in Tideswell, known as the 'Cathedral of the Peak'.B, D
Day 4 - Sunday
First to the spa town of Buxton in the High Peak, famous for its mineral water springs and Georgian and Victorian architecture. Later, we visit Kedleston Hall, the last of Derbyshire's great houses to be built to rival Chatsworth. The Hall was built for lavish entertaining and contains extensive collections of art.B, D
Day 5 - Monday
Discover the town of Bakewell with its medieval stone bridge over the River Wye and famous for its Bakewell Pudding. Spend this afternoon at Chatsworth House, with over 30 rooms and 105 acres of magnificent gardens.B, D
Day 6 - Tuesday
Leaving Derbyshire, we drive to Charlecote Park in Warwickshire. This grand 16th century country House sits on the banks of the River Avon, surrounded by a deer park. Then home to Sussex where taxis await.B
