Knole Park and House

Knole Park and House

The former achbishop's palace, one of England's largest house, situated in 1000 acres of grounds near Sevenoaks in Kent

Nestled in a medieval 1000 acre deer park, Knole is vast, complex and full of hidden treasures. Originally an archbishop’s palace, the house passed through royal hands to the Sackville family – Knole’s inhabitants from 1603 to today. Inside the showrooms, art lovers will find Reynolds, Gainsborough and Van Dyck to admire. Textiles enthusiasts can marvel at the seventeenth century tapestries and furniture that make the collection internationally significant. Unchanged since medieval times the park remains home to the same deer herd. The current herd of over 500 deer are descendants of those hunted by Henry V111 and Elizabeth 1.

A selection of hot and cold lunches, snacks, cakes and drinks are available in the newly refurbished Brewhouse Café.

The Gatehouse Tower is free for National Trust members and £5.00 for non-members on the day.
