The Longleat Land of Light

The Longleat Land of Light

one of Europe's biggest winter lantern spectaculars

The Longleat Land of Light (previously called the Festival of Light) is a truly unique spectacle and will be back bigger and brighter than ever in 2021. Held on the world-famous country estate in Wiltshire, it has become known as one of the country’s top light shows for the festive season. Illuminate your senses as you experience a myriad of magical light installations across the Park. Stroll through seven zones, each with different lighting, sound and colour, creating one of Europe’s biggest winter lantern spectaculars. This extended weekend break also provides a great opportunity for Christmas shopping.

Please note that the itinerary is provisional. Full details will be confirmed nearer the date of departure.

FRIDAY

Once everyone has arrived at the coach by taxi, we will set off to drive to Milletts Farm Centre in Oxfordshire. As well as a well-stocked Garden Centre and Farm Shop, there is a Farmhouse Kitchen Restaurant serving a good range of lunches and snacks. This afternoon we will continue through the Vale of the White Horse and the Lambourn Downs to our comfortable hotel on the outskirts of Swindon.

SATURDAY

After breakfast we drive to the Wiltshire town of Devizes. The Kennet & Avon canal runs through the town centre and there are over 500 listed buildings and a wide range of traditional independent shops. After time for coffee and a stroll we continue to Longleat for the 'main event'. On arrival we will drive through the Safari Park* to enjoy some animal encounters from the comfort of the coach. Then see the House and giant Christmas Tree in the Courtyard, all beautifully decorated for the season. As darkness falls the grounds take on a magical appearance with hundreds of illuminated characters and scenes. We return to our hotel for a slightly later dinner

SUNDAY

There is a choice today. Cribbs Causeway is one of the Southwest's premier shopping destinations, with over 130 top name stores including John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Lakeland. Or you can visit Bristol itself. In recent years the City has become known for its Christmas Markets. The Harbourside Christmas Market has a twinkling waterfront setting with mulled wine aplenty and festive decorations. In Broadmead Shopping Centre you will find the Local Christmas Market offering local arts and crafts, food and drink.

MONDAY

Close to our hotel is the Great Western Designer Outlet. Housed in the Grade II listed buildings of the former Great Western Railway works, it is one of the largest covered designer outlets in Europe. After time to pick up some amazing Christmas bargains and find an early lunch re-join the coach to travel home to Sussex where taxis await our arrival.
