The Largest Christmas Show in England
The Christmas Show at Thursford in Norfolk is unique, a truly magical experience and probably the best production of its kind in the UK. You will be treated to music, both traditional and contemporary, carol singing, dazzling dancers, glittering costumes and outstanding singing from a cast of over 100, not to mention a starring role from the mighty Wurlitzer organ.
Day 1 - Tuesday
Taxi pick up from your home to the coach. We will make our way to the historic town of Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk. Bury has a striking combination of medieval architecture, elegant Georgian squares and a glorious cathedral. After time to explore and find lunch we will continue to our Hotel situated in the North Norfolk countryside.D
Day 2 - Wednesday
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before boarding the coach for a drive along the coast passing pretty villages like Cley-next-the-Sea, Wells and Burnham Market. We continue to Thursford, where the Theatre will be beautifully decorated in readiness for the afternoon performance. The Christmas Spectacular was the brainchild of John Cushing, whose father established a steam engine and organ museum at Thursford in the 1970s. From the first, simple carol concert in 1977, the Christmas Spectacular has grown into one of Europe's biggest Christmas Shows with a budget of around £2 million.B, D
Day 3 - Thursday
This morning we will take a drive through the Fens to Ely. This small and historic city is home to one of the most important cathedrals in England. It took almost 300 years to complete, and 'The Ship of the Fens' as it is known, still towers over the surrounding landscape. This afternoon we will resume the homeward journey, reaching Sussex by the end of the afternoon to meet the waiting taxis.B
